Fake Audemars Piguet CODE 11.59 Starwheel
The next model in the still controversial CODE 11.59 collection brings back to life one of the historical complications of the Audemars Piguet Replica Watches manufacture – the wandering hour display, poetically called “Starwheel”.
For more knowledgeable fans of the Le Brassus manufacturer, the name “Starwheel” certainly makes their hearts beat a little faster. This is one of those complications that, thanks to its uniqueness, has become part of the brand’s history, despite its short existence. The first watches with a floating time display date back to the 17th century and were specially ordered by Pope Alexander VII. The clock, equipped with time display on rotating discs illuminated from the inside, was made by the Italian brand Campani from Rome. Audemars Piguet showed its version in 1991 (Ref. 25720), and it remained in production, in various variants, until the beginning of the 21st century. About 30 different models were created. Then Starwheel disappeared from the offer, but today it returns, as part of a collection that is still hotly discussed not only by AP fans.
CODE 11.59 Starwheel interprets the complication of wandering hours in a modern way, matched to the overall character of the watch. The outside is a CODE 11.59 case made of a combination of 18ct white gold and ceramics. The characteristic geometric details of the case are finished with alternating satin-finishing and polishing, combined with a ceramic crown, a double convex sapphire glass on the front, a sapphire caseback and a black strap made of black, textured rubber with a gold buckle attached to the skeletonized lugs. The case is 41 mm in diameter, 10.7 mm thick and has a WR of 30 m.
The shield’s composition consists of a disk of blue aventurine surrounded by black rings. One of them has a seconds scale, while the other has an arc reaching from the height of 10 to 2 – minute scale. The central point is occupied by a rotating satellite with three convex disks made of aluminum. Each one, covered with black PVD, was painted white for 4 hours and the surface was finished with an opalescent coating. The discs rotate on a mechanism visible from the dial side, decorated with several polished stars.
The movement in question is the new automatic caliber 4310, built on the basis of caliber 4309, with an added complication module. The watch has a 70-hour power reserve, a balance clocked at 4 Hz and a finish in the style of other mechanisms from the manufacturer, including a gold, skeletonized rotor.
The Audemars Piguet CODE 11.59 Starwheel will be part of the AP permanent collection. The watch was valued at CHF 48,000 (~PLN 227,600) plus tax. Available in the brand’s boutiques, the so-called AP House.
