JAMES BONDS NEW WATCH: FAKE OMEGA SEAMASTER DIVER 300M 007 EDITION
James Bond has a new watch. But this time it’s real. In 2024 there were already two announcements of new “agent watches”. One for the 50th anniversary of the Bond series in September 2024 – a limited edition Seamaster with a gold plaque for 6,100 euros (more on that), a few weeks later a limited set with two watches for 39,400 euros. Now there’s another one – for those who still haven’t had enough: The Fake Omega Seamaster Diver 300M 007 Edition.
BREAKING NEWS: NO LIMITATION
The grotesque thing: Omega has to expressly point out in its press release that this time it is NOT a limited edition (yay! Fireworks!). – Which is a clear sign that they have recently gone overboard with the limited editions. The whole thing has already become a running joke among watch and Omega fans.
Let’s get to the watch that anyone can now buy. Although… This brings us to the next typical Omega topic: the price. Because here too, there are apparently no limits. But let’s take a look at the watch first before we spoil our mood because of the filthy lucre 😉
OMEGA SEAMASTER DIVER 300M 007 EDITION (2020 OR 2021)
The retro/vintage elements: A domed sapphire crystal (domed), the luminous material used on the bezel, dial and hands is trimmed or colored to look old. The dial itself is in a brown tone (tropical effect) – as is the bezel, whose inlay is unfortunately only made of aluminum. In other words: It invites scratching over time and having to be replaced with every revision (for an additional charge?)… But Omega is certainly happy to do that 😉
For the military touch, you will find an arrow on the dial and the back (Broad Arrow – Wikipedia). This stands for “Property of the British Government” and is often found on old military watches. So it fits the Bond theme. So far, so good
LET’S COME TO THE PRICE – SHORT AND PAINFUL:
In short: The new James Bond watch is definitely no longer intended for the average moviegoer. But hey, at least it is not limited. Available to everyone. Yes, of course. – The only thing missing is for Omega to announce waiting lists for these watches in a few weeks/months. That would be the icing on the cake.
By the way: The price in 2020 (with 16% VAT instead of 19% #Corona) was a bit lower than in the announcement. But that doesn’t help much if the watch isn’t available…
Update 2021: In the meantime, and in time for the film’s release, which has been postponed several times (final: September 30, 2021), the watch is available again. At an increased price – of course 😉
